USG Meeting - 19h15 Thursday 08 January 2009

The next meeting of the Urban Space Group will be held in the Cavalier Suite of the Royal Hotel on Thursday 08 January 2009 and will start at 19h15.

Main items:

Sandybed Court - housing scheme
The first item of the evening will be a discussion of the planning application scheme for 53 new dwellings (a mix of three and two storey flats and two storey semi-detached and town houses) at the above site, providing an opportunity to offer feedback on the proposals.

Future Vision 09 - disused spaces
Landscape Architect, Nick Robinson will introduce the concept of 'Future Vision' (an annual design award aimed at encouraging the regeneration of disused/underused spaces in our towns & cities in promotion of the creation of sustainable communities) with a view to finding possible sites in and around Scarborough which might benefit from further design attention (towards a potential entry in the 'Open Spaces' category).

In addition to the principal agenda items, there will also be opportunity to catch-up on the status of the CABE SEA-Change proposals (focusing on the Spa); and hear updates on the following:

1. Station Square proposals
2. The Mere proposals (as a quick recap prior to February's meeting)
3. CABE SpaceShapers project (Barrowcliff site)
4. Housing Strategy

Finally, there will be an opportunity to recap on last meeting's discussion re: the Forward Planning aspect of the USG's agenda and to add any further thoughts with respect to the group's priorities for 2009.
